Tree-lined walkable streets, charming historic homes, easy access to MARTA, eclectic eateries and shops, plenty of green space, and even a 9-hole golf course. These are just a few of the benefits that make historic Candler Park one of Atlanta’s most desirable residential neighborhoods, combining a friendly atmosphere with the convenience and energy of urban intown living.

SHOPPING, DINING, ATTRACTIONS

The main attraction of this historic district is Candler Park itself, offering fifty-five acres of green space and recreation—including a nine-hole public golf course, playgrounds, a swimming pool, sports fields and tennis courts. As if this weren’t enough, the eastern wing of the sprawling Freedom Park meanders along the neighborhood’s north side. The neighborhood association sponsors numerous events throughout the year, including the famed Fall Fest each October, a two-day event featuring contests, local artists, great food, live music and a 5K race. Great shops and dining options can be found in walking distance along the neighborhood edges, with plenty more shopping and dining to be found in Little Five Points just west of the Candler Park neighborhood.

EDUCATION

Served by the Atlanta Public School system, students in Candler Park enjoy some of the best schools, not just in the city but in the state—including the highly rated Mary Lin Elementary and Inman Middle Schools. On the north side of Candler Park on Ponce De Leon Avenue lies the notable Paideia School, offering a quality private school education to grades Pre-K through 12. Other private schools in the area include Horizons School in Lake Claire, and The New School, an independent high school in nearby Inman Park.
